The Long Of It
Kaitlyn (she/her), who goes by Katie among friends and family, is a Lebanese American born and raised in historical Massachusetts with her four fuzzy wee dragons: Binx, MacKenzie, Adso, and Sabrina.
She is a writer, a witch, a costumer, a hiker, a baker, a wine-maker, and most importantly: the best Auntie in the World™.
She primarily writes historical Young Adult books, leaning into fantasy and adventure more than anything else. Her dream is for her books to be a safe place for teens and young adults to find representation and to understand the experiences of trauma, hardship, romance, and adventure through her characters within the safety of fiction. Her newsletter, “Much Abdou About Nothing” includes updates on her life, her writing, her reading, as well as advice and helpful information for other writers!
Katie’s debut young adult novel, “A Prince Among Pirates” comes out summer of 2026 with Atheneum (Simon & Schuster) in North America, and Harper Fire (HarperCollin’s Children’s Books) in the United Kingdom. It follows the story of Kit Davenport, a young nobleman who runs away from his wedding and accidentally joins a pirate crew.
Katie is also the Vice President of a local 501(c)3 Nonprofit known as The Friends of Borderland, founded in 1972. Their purpose is to preserve and interpret the natural and cultural resources of Borderland State Park. In layman’s terms, they help take care of the park by raising funds and gathering volunteers, and educate the public about the importance of preservation and the history of the family who used to live in the old Ames Mansion on the property.
Katie has been vocal on social media about her experience with infertility, and was even invited by NBC to write a personal essay for the Today Show on the matter.
She is an active member of Moonlighters’ Ink—a writer’s collective local to her. It includes authors J.W. Elliot and J.B. Wadsworth. They originally met up in the town library, but eventually branched out on their own and continue their monthly meetings at home.
